What You Will Learn1) Necessary technical soft skills for engineers to adapt from the university environment to real life technical working environment. These skills are:

    • Technical writing
    • Technical presentation
    • Creative problem solving - Triz

    2) Practical skills in software and hardware tools used in the industry for design and development work in DSP. These tools are:
    • Texas Instruments Code Composer Studio (leading DSP development tool in the industry today)
    • Texas Instruments DSP Development Kit (leading DSP development tool in the industry today)
    • Scilab Consortium Numerical Computation Tool

    3) Pre-requisite knowledge required to design and develop DSP-based projects using industry-leading tools. These knowledge are:
    • Fundamentals of DSP
    • DSP Applications

    4) Working skills required to design and develop DSP-based projects, after acquiring both practical skills in tools and pre-requisite knowledge in subject area. These skills are:
    • Design of DSP Application, based on technical performance required of the application
    • Testing of DSP Application, to compare desired performance versus actual result

Who Should AttendAvailable K-Workers who are looking for practical skills in preparation for a technical career in semiconductor industry such as:

    • Design and Development Engineer
    • Validation Engineer
    • CAD Engineer
    • Test Development Engineer
    • System Integration Engineer
    • etc

    Prerequisite

    • Malaysian citizens
    • Diploma/Degree holders in ICT-related fields
    • Available K-Workers (currently unemployed, in-between jobs, changing fields, retrenched) with Bachelor or Master Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
    • CGPA 2.5 or above

Course MethodologyThe participants are first taught the theories in classroom setting with the aid of software tools. The concepts are re-enforced through tutorial and case studies of how the theories are applied in real-life. Demonstration using the development kit and numerical computation tool will be carried out to illustrate various principles and techniques. The participants are then taught the use of software and hardware tools in a lab.

The concepts are re-enforced through practical exercises on the use of the tools to test and design DSP applications. Having acquired both practical skills in tools and pre-requisite knowledge in the subject area, the participants are required to design a DSP application as part of individual project work. The application will be tested to compare desired performance vs actual result.
